BOOK REVIEW: The Plain Janes by Cecil Castellucci and Jim Rugg

The Plain Janes is a graphic novel from the acclaimed author of Boy Proof, The Queen of Cool and Beige. Jane lives in Metro City, which she loves for the art and culture. But after the city is victim to an increasing number of terrorist bombing and attacks, Jane’s parents panic and move out to the heart of suburban America. Jane thinks her life is over and doomed to be pathetically boring. But one day she gets inspired and convinces her new friends (all also named Jane) to form P.L.A.I.N.—People Loving Art in Neighborhoods—and commit random acts of art all across town. But being in a secret art gang isn’t easy, especially when the school and administration and local police want to shut you down. A fun and quick read, The Plain Janes is definitely worth picking up next time you're in the library.
